The Jordanian Higher Administrative Court has recently issued a final and irrevocable judgment affirming the decision of the Jordan Pharmacists Association Council to terminate the membership of approximately one hundred pharmacists holding Palestinian nationality and residing in the West Bank.

The original decision by the Association’s Council was based on the fact that those pharmacists had joined the Association after the 1988 Jordanian Disengagement Decision, which formally separated the administrative and legal ties between Jordan and the West Bank.

The Court rendered its judgment during a public session chaired by Judge Nasser Al-Tal, with the participation of Judges Mohammad Al-Ghuraire, Adnan Freihat, Mohammad Al-Omari, and Dr. Fayez Al-Mahasneh.

According to Attorney Rateb Al-Nawaiseh, legal counsel to the Jordan Pharmacists Association, the ruling represents both a legal and symbolic stance in support of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people. While the decision is grounded in law, Al-Nawaiseh emphasized that it also reflects Jordan’s principled vision toward the establishment of a fully independent Palestinian state, with its own institutions and professional syndicates — particularly amid the growing international recognition of the State of Palestine and Jerusalem as its capital.

Al-Nawaiseh further noted that Palestinian professional unions constitute a cornerstone of the Palestinian state, underscoring the need for all Palestinian professionals to unite under and support their own national syndicates. He stressed that such affiliation and solidarity are essential steps on the path toward realizing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state.
